This event is part of the final Wave of the Better World Series — an ongoing project that builds community, profiles changemakers, and inspires action for the purpose of building a better world. This Wave’s theme is Art as Activism.
GATHERING
Now through November, we are exploring art as a powerful medium for positive social and environmental change. Together, we will discover how art is being used around the world to activate & inspire.
On Thursday, November 9th starting at 6pm at La Casa de la Raza (601. E. Montecito St. Santa Barbara), renowned interdisciplinary artist, cultural organizer, and political activist Favianna Rodriguez will host a public lecture followed by a hands-on art workshop.

Art Workshop: Symbols for the New Resistance
Limited seats are available for the art workshop, while the lecture is open to the public.

Favianna Rodriguez Artist
Favianna Rodriguez is an interdisciplinary artist, cultural organizer, and political activist based in Oakland, California. Her art and collaborative projects address migration, economic inequality, gender justice, and ecology. Rodriguez lectures globally on the power of art, cultural organizing and technology to inspire social change, and leads art interventions in communities around the country. She is the Executive Director of CultureStrike, a national arts organization that engages artists, writers and performers in migrant rights.
