GATHERING
As one of California’s premier growing regions, the south central coast is home to a diversity of agricultural products and farming techniques. Local farmers and ranchers play a pivotal role in defining and driving agricultural sustainability measures while helping feed the nation.
On Saturday, Sept. 9th at 4pm at LoaTree headquarters (508 E. Haley St.), we’ll chat with growers from Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties about topics of agricultural sustainability and viability. We’ll talk about organic farming, sustainable agriculture, the rise in regenerative ag. practices, and the future of food production in light of reduced water, changing climate, regulatory concerns and more.
In a a twist from normal Better World Series programming, we asked our 6 participating farmers (shown below) who the ideal audience was for them to speak in front of. You see, as event organizers, we are equally interested in what an audience gets out of a conversation as what our speakers get out of it. In the case of farmers who face increasing pressures on a daily basis, this is particularly true. The overwhelming consensus by our farmers was that they desired an audience of policy makers and elected officials.
In response, in an attempt to meet the needs of our guest speakers, the Better World Series team will be inviting an initial list of 50 elected officials from throughout the region as our first tier of outreach. Based on the response (or lack thereof) to this outreach, we will then open up a limited number of remaining seats to members of the public. Tickets will be $30 for all attendees.
This event is SOLD OUT. Only pre-registered ticket holders will be admitted.
Guest Speakers:
Appetizers will be provided by the Food Liaison (local, organic – of course!), with drinks by Rincon Brewery and Pandol Wines. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to participate in this enlightening conversation. Tickets are $30 and will be available soon. Subscribe to our mailing list to be the first to hear when tickets go on sale. Please note that tickets will be extremely limited.
